Yes i do think yesterdays singers were a lot better than todays. 1, they could actually sing 2, they had personality 3, they were not plastic 4, they sung about meaningful things 5, there was hardly any swearing 6, there was no anger

People used to become singers because they had talent and loved music.
These days people become popstars because they look good and can sing reasonably well.
But there are still singers who have a passion for their art. Only they don't usually become popstars.

Yes and No. Singers of the 40s an 50s had to have a good clear voice. But now it does not matter so much. But ther are still some good voices around today, but I can't think of one off the top of my head.
I cannot see anything close to Elvis or Beatles... The latest one was Queen
I wouldn't say they were better but chuck berry, perry como, and the beach boys are pretty unstopable.
I prefer the older stuff they were certainly more talented but i will also give the new bands a chance it's just all of these x factor singers and like you say the electronic two word lyric singers that are talentless crap...most of the music thats around now seems to be either cover versions or rip offs of well known good tunes changed slightly

Singers, at any point of time,are the best to worst The difference among the best to worst have to be assessed against the background of time-space frame. This is applicable to any art.
