the cards are switched when he turns them over with his left hand, the one holding the deck of cards. 1 odd card, 3 other cards need to be switch
first time, he turns 2 card, 1 is the odd card with the right hand, the other is with his left, hand, and undercover of turning it, he switch the card. 1 card is now switch. (notice how he never turn over this card again until the end?)
Next round, as the turns the other two normal cards over, his left hand agiain switch them. Now, 2 cards are already switched.
Finally, he need to turn over all the card. the last card that still haven't been switched yet, is now turn over by his left hand. Again, undercover of turning that card over, he switched it. Of course this time with the card facing upwards.
I'm not sure how he switched the card, but one possible way is that that 3 normal cards each have a "odd" card behind them. Its 2 cards there.
Pick the card up and turn it around, now drop down the 2nd card. The first card is under the cover of the deck, so you cant see them there.
