Question: I have just been watching her vids on you tube and it proves what i already knew=money and fame does not= happyness.
I have been clean for 4 years in feb afetr beeing a heroin addict for ten, Any ideas on how to better myself, i have a small handmade greeting cards business and have another jiob paying pennys and i mean litrally, if anyone has any thing erious please help????

Janis Joplin had amazing talent, which was sadly wasted. At least she is remembered fondly by many to this day.
How to better yourself: See if you can get a job working in a homeless shelter for women on the street, or at a thrift store that serves impoverished neighborhoods. Another idea is perhaps volunteering in a food bank. Do things that help you learn to give back to others and in doing this, you begin to think about so many more ways of reaching out, instead of reaching inside of yourself. Heroin use causes such sadness for everyone around you, but for yourself there must be intense loneliness. In learning to reach out to others in need, you may be able to continue staving off any desire to return to that way of living. It's so much better to help others, right?

first was aware of her back in about 1968,,,,,good for you,,remember that Janis died of a heroin overdose in 1970,,,her life was blighted by hard drugs and peer pressure,,your business will go far if you keep at it,,well done to you,,,,
I know there is no comparison really but I have just given up smoking addiction is a terrible thing + you live in a state of total denial thinking that you are controling it
well done you for overcomming but dont get resentful of the fact your life still isnt better financialy do something about it you sound eloquant enough to be able to learn a better skill to earn better money you have taken a big step in your life once to change for the better the next step will be easy good luck to you xxxxx
Good luck staying clean. A friend of mine also make cards, and she just started making smalll jewellery item too, rings, bracelets, necklaces etc. You sound like your creative, so you should have loads of ideas. Hope it all goes well :))

Just keep doing what you are doing Sarah as you have bettered yourself already by staying clean. I have no doubt your small business will pick up if you give it a chance........and tell the likes of "drop the phone" to "Drop Dead".

The best advice I could give would be to keep at your current jobs but whenever you get any spare time check the Jobcentre website and the local papers for any jobs. You'll find it's a lot easier to get a job while you're already working, and if you see something you fancy just go for it.
You're doing great though, and don't let it get to you if you're not making a lot of money. Just keep at it, it will all be worth it eventually.
Go and do an art course. It'll free your mind. Then your *** can follow! It's great therapy for everyone!
BTW, I *love* Janis Joplin! We share a birthday and to some extent I can feel her pain. It's not easy being an independent misfit ;-)
