Why are school dances so unbelievably expensive?!?!

Question: I've never been to one of our highschool dances, partly because they're so expensive, but mostly because I can't dance. What is in there that makes them worth EIGHTY DOLLERS?!

i used to be on student council, so i know what goes into those dances, if there were invitations sent, its partly because of the cost of envelopes, stamps, and actual invitation, then comes in the food and drinks, which can be very expensive depending on how much there is, and then, one of the MOST expensive things is the DJ, it is soo hard to find a good DJ who will play for cheap, and then there are decorations, which, depending on where you get them, can be expensive, so...since someone needs to make a profit, $80 is probably as small as they could go to just make a profit....hope this helps

Are you serious? At our school, they're usually free. Or else just a couple of bucks. Well, to answer your question... maybe because of the free expensive food, the band, or just so that a bunch of losers don't come in and mess the whole thing up. Another reason could be how much the school spent on the dance. It takes a lot of money to do all that.

because its a SCHOOl dance. The school needs to pay for it and everything. IN order to make a profit, they'll have to make it more expensive than what it relaly should be.

okay first off your dance costs $80!!!!!!!!!!!!!! your school is trippin hard anyway but maybe your dance is at a very expensive place and they want yall to have the best in your school experince you know so maybe thats it and another thing i would not pay $80 for a dance the devil is a lie!!!!!!!!!!!!
