Where do I go from here on drums?!
Question: I have been playing drums for about a year and love doing it. I play a lot but lately it seems as if I'm not progressing skill- wise. I really want to improve and know that I can use it but I don't what to do to improve. Please help...

2 things;
1. Listen to the type of music that you like and listen for some cool licks, then work on trying to duplicate what you heard.
2. Find somebody that does some things that you don't do and see if they can teach you few licks.
When you get those perfected, do it again!!!

Play along to Nirvana songs, thats how I learned how to play, when I was first getting into playing drums I used to play along to Nirvana songs cos their songs are simple and rock, they have really basic beats that are good for learning, try:
Lithium
Breed
Heart Shaped Box
Tourettes
Rape me
(ACDC songs are easy too)
another thing you might wanna look into is learning how to read drum tabs, they're very very easy to learn and it'll help with your skill with lots of practice, another thing, you don't need drums to practice, you can always practice on your knees anywhere you are, it might annoy some of the people around you but who gives a **** right!? I got really good cos of that.
