If you're out of tune, can you be taught how to sing, or does it have to be !
Question: I am inclined to believe that the ear can be trained to hear the note and sing it in tune. My first husband sang terribly off key and I used to sing loudly on key in his ear at church when we were first married. We were only married a year and 3 months and now he sings at weddings for money! He has a nice baritone voice. If one works with the piano and trains the ear much like when in college music theory when they study to recognize the intervals by hearing them played, they can train their ears to sing on key as well. First, learn to find one note on key and work up and down one note or one step in a scale at a time, until it is conquered. You could use the aid of a tape recorder so you can hear if you're getting close when you play it back.

Singing lessons can teach your pitch and how to listen to yourself.
You can be taught but it always helps to have have a little tone before you start.Cuz some people are born tone deaf.
you can learn but i was born to sing!!1!1!111!! i sing great and when you get lessons then you might sing as good as i am
Anyone can be taught to sing, it may take a while, but it is possible!

I used to think that being in tune and able to keep rhythm was something that everyone could do....until I met my husband. He cannot carry a tune if it was strapped to his back. He just cannot keep rhythm of songs or instruments. For me, I can carry a tune and I sort of hear the rhythm in my head. He says he can't do that because he gets totally lost. He told me that it's something you are born with and after seeing him...I'm beginning to believe it.
I think it's possible to learn how to sing in tune; certainly you'll never be able to develop a great voice, but to learn how to be in tune is something you can do with a good training
