No...you can pull an auction anytime you like...when you do it just tick the "Item is not available for sale anymore" box....they have to allow this as sometimes people break things they are auctioning...
I did it once and had no problems.
It sounds a bit risky from the personal safety point of view, dont go!
Stick to the ebay way
