Usually they'll perform for 1-2 hours, at a rate of $50-$100 per hour. You can probably get a cheap clown, but they may not be very entertaining or know how to work with little kids.

look in parenting mags they often had adds in the back also ask other parents at your kids kindergarten i live in England so I'm no help on the cost but word of mouth is the best way to find a good entertainer of any kind some clowns are very good at magic too
