Do you think playing a musical instrument helps you to appreciate music more tha!

Question: I started playing guitar 10 years ago and it has opened my eyes to new types of music created by some very talented musicians.

On the other side of the coin, I think a lot of the pop music you hear on the radio is neither creative nor very well written.

Yes. Being involved in an art (such as music) does give you an edge in appreciating it. That said, you can still appreciate music just as much if you don't play anything--however, in order to reach the same level, you have to work at it more.

Yes it did for me.

I don't believe playing a musical instrument helps people to appreciate music more. People can pour themselves into music for many different things in life itself and it calms their soul.
