MOVIE REVIEW: SWEENEY TODD. Any thoughts about it?!
Question: i just saw the Sweeney Todd movie. Im not a fan of musicals but it wasnt all that bad. It had its slow moments but overall it was good. Ive never seen the original Broadway version though.

I thought it was amazing. It was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I loved how it was a musical and a gory, romantic movie at the same time. Overall, the acting was phenomenal and I especially loved how the main character died at the end-something that doesn't normally happen in American films. I also enjoyed how the end left the fate of Joanna, the sailor and Toby (I think that was the boy's name) to the viewer's imagination.
[Oh, and I like musicals so that might affect how I saw the film.]
It looks stupid to me. I'm not a fan of musicals, nor of Depp, and why would any sane women fantasize about marrying Johnny Depp? EWW.
I saw it on Braodway with Angela Landsbury &Goerge Hearn,great singers both and the play ran for more tha 2 (more like 3)hours,so I imagine there were a good deal of cuts,but,in the wake of musical films since,"Chicago" et;al,I'm looking foreward to seeing "Sweeny Todd" it was a brilliant play,typical Sondhiem.
