Just moved to Pittsburgh, can you tell me some cool places to hang out?!
Question: I live about 20 min north of the heart of pittsburgh. What are the places to go around here. I'm talking about bars and such...When I lived in Dayton I would go to the Oregon District, which was a street with nothing but bars on both sides. I also went to local pubs to see bands so I need to know where to go around here. Thanks!

There are several such districts in Pittsburgh as well. There is the South Side, Station Square and the Strip District. They all have a ton of bars, and it really depends on what you're looking for. The strip is more of a club scene, the south side has more indie bars, and station square has Matrix--4 bars in one. I would suggest going out on Thursdays if you want a good crowd but not so many people that you can't breathe. If you can't handle wall-to-wall packed places, don't go out to the strip or station square on a Saturday night. Also, never show up before 11PM on a Saturday. It'll be dead, and you'll be mad that you paid ten bucks to get in.
As far as places for bands, there are places in the strip, south side, oakland...really all over the place. Just keep an eye out for band flyers and read the PGH City Paper. It lists all the upcoming events. There is a lot of culture in Pittsburgh, too, so be open to it. Have fun!
Now that your living in Pittsburgh you must become a Steelers fan or they will kick you out of Pittsburgh for life.
