Question: Whats the salary of an average writer? I know they get paid alot and no one ever mentions how much it is!

You could always watch sports or non-American shows. I watch NHL games and anime, and I haven't even noticed the writers' strike.
You should offer to write the script for your favorite shows. They just might be desperate enough to go for it these days! You'll be in the money!

Explore your boundaries, try some new shows that you've never watched. They may be repeats, but you've never seen them. Thats what I do and I haven't noticed the strike at all.
you'd be suprised, the writers do not get paid as much as you would think. They are usually hired right out of school or after a few pros. They make roughly a medium of 30-50 thousand depending on the show. Its the ones which make the really popular shows and have been on board with tthe company for a while which get paid fairly well. Based on teh hours they work though.,... it really isn't enough. The whole thing is with all these networks now showing shows online for those who missed it, they aren't getting paid extra or royalties for the shows they helped create.
