Jamie Lyn Spears is pregnant and 16. Isn't this illegal ?!

Question: I thought that the father/man/boy could be charged for statutory rape for having sex with a minor?
Is this true?

Almost all states in the US don't have a law against being pregnant, however they do about rape, statutory rape, etc. So, if the parents of this girl want to press charges against the father (and the legal age for consentual sex is OVER the age of 16) they can and criminal charges can be brought against him but not against her!

I dont live in the States, I live in New Zealand and I often hear on the news about men being charged for having sex with a minor. Report It

  • I'm surprised that hasn't come up yet, but it will. Just wait.

Since when is it illegal to be pregnant?

Rethink your question and ask again.

the guy should be blamed... i'm surprised he walked out of the relationship without any attachments!!!

It really depends on the state that this happened. Not all states have the age of consent at 18. There is also a law called "Romeo and Juliet" law that defines how much age difference there has to be. 3 years is not enough

well if the father is over a certain age. i think ite either 18 or 21.
