Would trying to get a job writing TV and Movie scripts during the strike be wise!

Question: I am a writer by hobby, and thought it might be fun to look into writing for some big shows. I mean, I have some great story design capabilities and all, even thought about writing a novel (Currently writing one for personal pleasure and possible submission to publishers). But back to the question...

Do you think they would consider hiring me if I had some good samples. And due to the fact that they have no writers right now, wouldn't they be getting desperate after a while?

It is not a very good idea, in the first place, most movie studios hire from the screen writers guild, so when the strike was over so would your job be...also your chances to get into the screen writers guild would be absolutely nil later on because you would be blacklisted as a scab...better to join the guild now I would think - so that when the strike was over you could submit some of your work to prospective directors for review.
