I am a big Lewis black fan, I saw Carlin live in chicago he is hilarious, Kevin James is very funny, the late Mitch Hedberg, and Robin Williams live on Broadway cracked me up, those are probably the top of my list

another comedian i like is bill hicks for the same reasons
I know I'm dating myself, but hands down, Red Skelton. I don't think there was a funnier, or nicer, man in entertainment history.
If you're not familiar with him, rent a DVD some time and watch one of his old shows.
And he never used a dirty word, or made a dirty joke. He didn't have to.
Robin Williams -- NO ONE can compete with him. I really like George Carlin and Lewis Black too, but Williams is the absolute best at thinking on his feet and adapting to the audience. And like Carlin, Williams doesn't always go for the easy laugh -- he makes you think too.
