If limewire si so illegal?!
Question: i dont have it... but how come so many ppl use it and dont get caught i have about 200 friends on myspace and about 75% have limewire and none of them have got caught...whats the dealio

Three things:
1. Currently there are so many people illegally downloading that it is virtually impossible to catch them all. The music industry has started prosecuting people by the hundreds, but there are millions of people doing it. So statistically it is still safe, but only because the music industry is not currently capable of catching everyone. It is like illegal immigration: it may be illegal, but catching 12 million undocumented people with limited money and resources is nearly impossible. Same holds true for illegal downloading... almost.
2. When my #1 is resolved, a lot of your friends are going to be in for an unpleasant surprise. Although it is currently impossible to catch everyone, security technology is quickly catching up. 2,000 college kids were prosecuted for illegal downloads this past year, and that number and the variety of downloaders they target is going to increase. The music industry and internet providers are working together to crack down, and eventually they will develop systems that will enable them to catch downloaders in large quantities, and they will mass-prosecute them.
3. Caught or not caught, your friends are ruining music. The quality of music has decreased dramatically in the past seven years or more, and illegal downloads are one of the reasons. No sense in developing talented musicians when you are not going to profit from them anyway. Your friends might get free music, but as a result the music they get is of less quality. This is particularly unfair to those who procure their music legally. If you want to be an unethical person who is ruining music for everyone, be my guest.

its illegal because your getting the music you want for free. you always have to pay its like steeling. but i use limewire anyway i dont want to pay nobody gets cought doing it
i think its okay because ppl have uploaded songs already. so your not technically stealing anything since someone has already paid for it
Limewire is not illegal but it's really bad. If you are uploading things sometimes bad things are on instead of things you wanted. And if you have any program on your computer people that have Limewire can upload it from your computer did you know that???? Don't use it it's like a virus if you have it too long on your computer.
