Can an amateur pianist play in a bar ?!
Question: Its been a childhood dream. How good do you have to be to play in the evenings in a bar ? I know some standards like Autumn Leaves and 'As Time goes by' and can play them with alternate chord changes and some embellishments. I just never had much classical training.

Sure you can! Your status might change to "semi-pro" at that point, but the distinction isn't important. Locate some places in your area or commuting distance that feature that type of entertainment and try to set up auditions. You might also want to record a demo disc that you can send to potential venues. Good luck and keep on playin'!
