What does "HE AIN'T HEAVY ...HE'S MY BROTHER" MEAN.......??!

Question: it is from a famous african american artist painting.

The saying itself means, weight is not an issue when it comes to helping your fellow brother. When you put yourself in a situation to help someone, sometimes you have to "carry them through" situations, and you can't afford to get tired. The person is not heavy, because they are your brother.

Hope that helps. Otherwise, check wikipedia.

There was a guy on Miami Ink that got a tattoo of a bird with the words "he ain't heavy" for his disabled brother.

"Heavy" as in a burden--- he ain't "heavy"-- he's my brother... In other words- He is no burden, and is loved like a brother- like there is nothing he could ask for that would be too much to handle... Get it? At least that is how I have always interpreted it. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! ;)

The meaning is derived from a famous painting where a boy was carrying his injured brother. When someone would ask if he was heavy, the boy replies "he ain't heavy, he's my brother", meaning the weight is not important, caring for his brother is the important thing and the strength to carry him comes from love within.
