Why do I get so much feedback from my guitar amp?!


Question: I am trying to play an acoustic electric on a Line 6 amp. It's set on clean, no distortion, but i keep getting feedback when i turn up the volume (not even half way turned up). any suggestions. first sugg that works = 10 points

Unfortunately, that's the nature of the beast when you're playing an acoustic/electric through an amp that's not designed for acoustic guitars. Your best bet is to play with your EQ settings. Acoustic feedback is most prevalent around 3,000 Hz, so try cutting the midrange back. It would be better if you had a rack EQ or a pedal EQ you could plug in, but in the absence of those you'll have to play with your amp settings. You could also try setting your gain lower and turning up the master volume. The two obvious things you should be doing are (1) making sure the reverb is off or set at minimum, and (2) making sure you're positioned well away from the amp and not in front of it.
