short lessons. you should try to teach him to read music (c) first, then move on to key and note recognition, short pieces (c), and scales. not every child learns at the same pace, so let him take his time. And most importantly dont force him to learn if he doesnt like it.
Every child is good at something, and it's the parent's job to find out what that is and focus on developing that skill.
