Question: i want to create a smoke curtain using gas type fire extinguisher. can this do the job instead of the smoke machine or dry ice?

Well, you better make darn sure the tube had large enough holes so that you didn't overpressurize it. A good side PVC tube with at least 1/2" diameter holes drilled every couple of inches SHOULD do the trick. You aren't going to get a curtain of CO2 for very long though. Personally, I'd recommend about a 10 lb. CO2 gas cylinder with a crank valve and a high pressure hose and place it into the tube rather than a fire extingiusher so you can regulate the discharge better. Depending on how long the tube is, you should get a nice curtain of CO2 for about 45 seconds.

Make sure you hold your breath before you walk through it and remember that a CO2 discharge is about 40 degrees below zero so don't dwell.
