If you cannot play a guitar yet, then expensive instrument is not for you. Just don't waste money. Get some cheap guitar. It might be a used one, but good. Go to any local stores that sell musical instruments and they will help you with choosing a guitar for your needs. it can be Ibanez, Washburn, Fender, etc. Personally I like Ibanez. They are japanese and sound pretty well. But it's up to everybody. Whatever sound you like and whatever guitar you feel comfortable playing. Buying guitar you also need to choose right strings. Try not to buy any cheap strings: don't hurt your fingers and besides that you can't expect good sound from them. They have different thickness. I'd recommend you to get 0.09. They will be perfect for your fingers cuz the skin is tender since you haven't played guitar yet. If you are buying electric guitar, then you can get pretty much any amp. At this time it won't make any difference, but if you have lots of money, there is a big variety of different amps. Then there are lots of guitar magazines, like, Guitar Player, etc. They have some simple arpegios you'll need to learn. BUT! If I were you I would do the following: search internet for a program which is called "Guitar Pro". Get the last version. I think it's GuitarPro 5. Usually it sells online, but you can also find a cracked version, or just a distributive and then find a crack for it. Then you can find so many tabs of arpedgios, songs of your favourite bands, musicians, etc. If you can't find one, then you MUST buy it cuz it is very useful and it'll work for you in future and help you improve your skills. It will help you learn notes and where they are located. There is another one which has less possibilities, but it will work too. it's called Power Tab Editor. But I would go for Guitar Pro. Then you'll need to start learning how to play guitar by playing very simple and slow arpedgios. Good stuff is: Ingwie Malmsteen, but don't try to play it with the same speed, or at the beginning you'll probably need something more simple and slower. Practice couple hours every day by playing arpedgios, memorizing notes, then you can learn some simple melodies, but do not try to play Steve Vai or somebody else. Try to play as clean sa possible, and play every arpedgio until it will sound clean. And then you can add speed to it.
You can get some video schools: for example, Michael Angelo Batio, Ingwie Malmsteen, etc. But, remember, you won't show any miracles at first couple months, or maybe years. Be patient and your guitar will sound right some day. Good luck

First you should decide what instrument you would like to play, seeing as how each one of the three types of guitars you mentioned have their own list of manufacturers which often dont perfect manufacturing both.

Since I'm knowledgeable in electric guitars i would HIGHLY recommend not rushing through the purchasing process, you'll probably grow to hate it as you try out others and grow more knowledgeable yourself when it comes to the parts (method neck body joining, pick ups, fretboard wood as well as the guitar wood itself) and who makes them best. When it comes to the electric guitar, everybody has his own comfort level, I for example has long fingers with slightly bumpy fingertips, so i prefer a larger neck width, it all depends on the person playing, But as a starter guitar i highly advise you to get a Gibson, now I'm not talking about the high end Gibsons from the get go, try looking up the Gibson SG Special model or the Gibson SG Special Faded ( which is a lower end Gibson Special) those clock around $500 i think.

As far as Amp go, I don't know much about them, I got mine in Fender Squire Starter Pack which sucks big time, so i cant help you there....just try to go to your local music store and try out your guitar on the amps there, and see which one picks up the resonating the best.

Books and videos don't help much in my opinion, I use Guitar Pro 5 and let me tell you, it works WONDERS....not only will you get a more clear understanding of your instrument and how it corresponds with other typical band instrument, but itll help you to know more about song structures and musical chemistry.

Hope that helped lol
