Could you live without TV for 6 months?!

Question: We gave our televisions/video recorders/PS2 everthing linked to it away at the beginning of the year and we have not looked back. In fact I wonder now how we ever had TIME for television. Now whenever it comes up in conversation (which it inevitably does..."Did you watch...?") people ask me how we cope and what do we do with our 3 year old.

I'm 14 and my family hasn't had T.V. for 4 years. I don't know how I even had time for it, as you said. Our T.V. only plays DVDS. It doesn't pick up channels. I'm already a really awful procrastinator as it is. I don't know what I'd do if we DID get T.V. ...probably bomb my classes at school. It is amazing what Americans don't realize they can live without. I'd say my life is so much better and I really am thankful my parents don't pay for channels for our T.V. Now if there was only some way to get the rest of America to see that...

Yes

But not my PC !!

It is my life!

no

if i had to yes but who would want to

NEVER WATCH TV.. ITS TOTAL CRAP.. PREFER TO GO ON HERE ...XX

I haven't watched any for more than a year. I use YA instead.

More people can live without TV, PC internet had aleady replace many people tv because pc can do all same function as TV.

no

yeah cuz i hardly ever watch tv unless im really bored who needs a tv when you have a computer

yes

Yes when I leave USA and travel to another country youy see the beauty and not think about tv.

are ya mad

I believe I can.Just to prove I can think I am going to try to do it for a week.I just can't inmagine what I will do with all that extra time.

I could cope without TV but I do find it helpful with the kids - I have four ranging in ages from 8 to 13. It's not really safe for the younger ones to go out to play, especially with the nights drawing in so they get really bored.

I hate tv, cant stand it in fact ,dont have a clue why i still have the thing

If I could get my husband to agree, I would do the same thing. TV is an addiction. It lowers your attention span, and it takes away from family time. Sure, I'd miss South Park and Scrubs, BUt I definitely think I could deal with that.

I could.

TV is great..but it's not everything.

I'll listen to music..play boardgames..read..use my PC..knit..write..take a walk..

Hmm..makes me think why am I not doing that now?!

Good for you! I feel that we waste so much time in front of the TV when we could be doing something more productive. I am a homeowner and father so I am so busy that TV just takes me away from the things I should be doing. KILL YOUR TV!

I've lived without it for 5 years now. My life has never been better :D

i can take it or leave it.
I dont think i would miss it too much, i prefer books or the company of my family and friends.
Its all soap operas and reality cooking shows theses days, not my cup of tea.

Live? Yes. Be very very disappointed for a whole 6 months??? NO WAY. Imma sucker for my TV shows.

yeah. tv is crap

Yes. Totally. But i would struggle to survive without my PC.

I dont think i would live without it for 6 months, but i suppose if i had a PC then maybe i could watch it on there, but i really dont think i could do it! lol

Yes I could!!!

As I prefer the internet and yahoo answers :)

No way!! That is my life!!!

i could live without it but no i would not give it up ever

Could you live without TV for 6 months ?

I have essentially lived without it for almost two and a half years -- now ! I was trying to remember just the other day
an "approximate" figure on time that I have had a TV on for ANY reasons within that time -- and best I can come up with is somewhere around 3 hours --- total !! And, Those were almost ALL news events of one kind or another !!
Television is White Noise !!!!

I have a tv but no cable, so I only use it to watch a dvd or video once a month or so.

Without internet, I wouldn't manage. I live alone in a tiny bedsit and it's practically my only outlet.

I do wonder though how I used to spend hours watching tv, and now if I'm at mum's I can hardly watch two programs in a row without getting distracted/bored. I hardly watch TV anymore, when I'm home I'm usually reading (online or in the form of a traditional book, whichever I feel like) or chatting to my friends. I've been saying for a month now if not longer that I want to watch this DVD again but when push comes to shove, there's always something better to do.

I also constantly get the question of "how do you cope without TV?" but *shrugs* I just don't really care, especially with all that "reality TV" these days - hello, when I watch TV it's to GET AWAY from the real world, not to watch others live in it.

Yes...like the other people said who needs the tv if you have a pc..

***IT WOULD BE HARD, BUT I THINK I COULD DO IT AS LONG AS I HAD MY DVD PLAYER.***
