Do you think Radiohead has started something wonderful with the way music can be!

Question: I think it is genius on how radiohead chose to release their music to the public by releasing it independantly, and at a price that YOU CHOOSE!

Does anyone think it could possibly change the way music is sold right now? And maybe help combat copyright infringement and the stealing of music?

Well, part of the reason they did it was as a "pre release." So many songs get put online "unofficially" for a little while, which really seems fake and planned to me. The official release on CD isn't for a few months.

But I like this idea for many reasons:
-the band gets a much higher % of the sale
-because the band gets a higher %, the fans don't have to spend as much to give the band equal benefit$$.
-It allows the public to "test drive" the band, which increases loyalty.

I can see a time where you get to pick the quality of the music (paying extra for CD quality, and less for less). In fact, I work for a company that can do this today, but I don't think "the world's" really ready/looking for it yet. For now, we don't really have any customers using this feature. (In fact, we can do download, mail a "hard copy" --and we're about to announce a secure download-to-burn.)
