I've played the piano since I was 6 yrs. old; am now 73.

My experience has been that "how" you practice, how often, and how long will determine whether or not there is any change at all.

It will have no effect on the size of your fingers(or thumbs)whatsoever.

If you're not taking lessons, purchase a book entitled "HERTZ" - I don't remember whether there is any sub-title to this book or not. It simply gives you the very best techniques to practice, and is used by any teacher who is educated and knows anything about music.

If you practice regularly, paying close attention to how you practice, and discipline yourself accordingly - baring any kind of innate physical limitations that you might have, and if you have the normal, average physical wherewithal - nothing will happen to the size, circumference or length of your fingers(and thumbs).

What will happen, is that they will become much more pliable, sensitive, stronger and more controllable. If you type, you will notice a considerable increase in you skill.

But let me reiterate, it depends on how regularly
and disciplined you practice, that will determine your development.

Good luck,
