Don't think it was Poplar though that is probably much the same. I think it's in Leyton or Leytonstone. Does that help? I think the Beatles may have played there but not sure.

THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS EVERYONE, I HAVE JUST FOUND OUT THE PLACE I AM LOOKING FOR IS LEYTON BATHS BUT IT SEEMS THAT THE BEATLES DID NOT PLAY THERE (THOUGH LOTS OF 60s BANDS DID)

THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS EVERYONE, I HAVE JUST FOUND OUT THE PLACE I AM LOOKING FOR IS LEYTON BATHS BUT IT SEEMS THAT THE BEATLES DID NOT PLAY THERE (THOUGH LOTS OF 60s BANDS DID) Poplar baths in East London...the area is called Poplar...it was built in 1852 as a public wash house and baths...in the 30s it was rebuilt and floored over for use as a dance hall, theatre and boxing ring....damaged in the war it was closed till 1947 and then reopened as a pool.
now it is derelict....locals are campaigning to have it repaired.

The York Hall Baths in Bethnall Green is still used as a swimming pool (there are two pools one large and one a bit smaller)and when the boarded floor is put in place on the large pool it is used for a variety of functions, Boxing, Dinner dance, conference, ect ect, used to use the small pool for scuba training,
