Humidor question on oboe...?!

Question:

Humidor question on oboe...?

I got a brand new oboe made of violetwood and I am very concerned about cracking. The humidity fluctuations were pretty intense ranging from 40 to 65 RH, so I'm looking for a solution for storage. I'm looking for a humidor for which to keep my oboe at 50% RH. Is there another solution to the humidity problem or am I just being paranoid? $6400 investments need protection. The dimensions of the case is 14", 8", 2". Please help with solution or a humidor I can buy!

Answers:

Well, I have a Lorée oboe myself and I have a Dampit oboe humidifier with sponges in them where you soak it in water and then place in in the case. It comes with a color chart that shows you what color it's supposed at. They only cost about $12 and here's an image of one or you just can google it: http://www.charlesmusic.com/cgi-bin/theo... Also, get a room humidifier--it's also very useful.
