Do i need to watch pirates of the carribbean 1 and 2 in order to follow or understand number 3 ?

I've seen both movies, and I still have trouble understanding 3! Dang backstabbing and double-backstabbing and triple-backstabbing.
If you haven't seen the first two, you won't really know who anyone is. Nor will you care. This movie isn't about character development. It's fun as part of the series.
