Question:

I'm throwing a bachelor party in Charleston, SC. Any ideas on places to go, things to do and entertainment?

There's about 9 of us and we'll be down there mid-June for a weekend. I know there's a minor league baseball team and some good golf courses, but we need more entertainment. Any thoughts?

Answers:

The best bar area to go to is on Market St. This is where you will find the most action and the most girls. Some bars I would suggest are Mad River, Henrys, Tsunamis, Wasabi, Social, Light, and Wild Wing Cafe (Do yourself a favor and don't go to Wet Willies). There are also some fun places on Upper King St including the best sports bar in Charleston (and a good place to get some eats before you hit the town, King St. Grille). Upper King bars are O'Malleys, Beerworks, Reval (lounge) Coast, Joe Pasta, AC's, and Trio Club (only go on Saturday).

The River Dogs are the minor league team you referred to. Really nice stadium and the games are fun to go to especially if you are getting into town on Thursday. They have drink specials and a ton of girls go. Friday night is family night so it's a little more subdued and Sat/Sun are day games.

In terms of strip clubs, you got the Green Emerald (I think, used to be called Diamonds and haven't been there since they switched) and the Southern Belle. Both are located on upper Meeting St. right accross from each other. Southern Belle is open till 4am and is BYOB but the girls aren't as good (at least not when it was compared to Diamonds). The other one closes at 2 though which is when the bars downtown close so the Belle is always a little more hoppin' for after hours partying.

Go to the beach. Folly Beach is more of a young crowd. Isle of Palms has a nicer beach and some fun bars (The Windjammer has beach volleyball and is literally located right off the beach. You can go in with no shirt, no shoes). Sullivan's Island is also a good beach and has my favorite bar in the Charleston area, Poe's. A lot of girls especially during happy hour time after a nice beach day.

Another bar area is on Shem Creek in Mt. Pleasant. Check out Red's for some good drinks, live music, and decent seafood.

Like you said, golf is everywhere. Take some tours downtown if you like that kind of thing (horse drawn carriage tours). Some good spots are the Battery, WaterFront Park, Rainbow Row, the Market (same place where all the bars are is a huge open market in the day where people sell anything you can imagine), SC Aquarium, Fort Sumter, Fort Moultire, etc. Look through some brochures.

Sorry for the novel. Hope it helps!
