Is there a triangle in an orchetsra?!

Question:

Is there a triangle in an orchetsra?

By triangle i mean the instrument, not the shape. If there is one though does anyone know how many?

Answers:

A triangle does have a part in the orchestra. It is part of the percussion section known as "auxillary percussion". Auxillary percussion covers all of the instruments that aren't typically used , but they're there when they are called for. Other auxillary percussion instruments include: tambourine, woodblock, temple blocks, cowbell, log drum and many, many others.

I played for a couple of years as an alternate for a professional symphony orchestra, my unofficial title was "principal triangle". (While there is no principal triangle player, it was I who would usually be called upon to play the triangle parts when they were necessary.) The greatest number of triangles that I've used in a single performance was three.
