Answers:

This probably won't be the answer you're looking for, but I thought I'd add my two cents...

First of all...almost everything I see from Criss Angel is very suspect. By that, I mean a lot of it seems to use huge set ups and camera tricks. It's not the kind of stuff you can just walk up and do, if you know what I mean. He has a team of illusionists working for him that come up with his tricks and the vast majority, if not all, of them aren't available on the market...meaning that maybe five or six people even know how they work.

I don't personally know of any web sites that give away free street magic tricks (most of the really good ones are closely guarded, anyway) but I can point you in the right direction for some really good materials, most of which are relatively inexpensive.

First and foremost, I would check out www.ellusionist.com . That is the web site that I used to get into street magic. They have a lot of good materials that you can use to get started. If I were you, I would start with Crash Course I and if you like it, then move to Crash Course 2. Crash Course I teaches basic card technique and Crash 2 teaches a routine called The Ambitious Card. You've probably seen David Blaine to that one (although it was in existence for quite awhile before that) where the card put in the middle of the deck keeps come to the top...excellent trick, in fact it's the only trick that I ALWAYS do when I pull out my cards. That's were I would stop with Ellusionist. I've seen they're other videos and, for the most part, they are very, very bad. You can get better videos for cheaper. However, Ellusionist offers some third party stuff that's well worth checking out.

Here are some other DVDs you may want to check out: The Banachek Psi Series (mind reading and metal bending/psychokinesis...mind blowing stuff!! Four DVDs worth), actually, that's the only DVD I have to recommend.

Books: "Thirteen Steps to Mentalism" by: Corinda....and I guess that's the only book.

In order to be a successful street magician, you should have a good blend of cards and mentalism.

Sorry I was being so long winded...I just wanted to give you a good start!

Good luck!!
