How do I convince my parents to let me get an electric guitar?
They know I'll stick with it, I've played piano for a little over 5 years now. Don't get me wrong, I love piano, it'll always be my favourite instrument, but I'd still love to play electric guitar. My brother and I somehow convinced them to get my brother an acoustic guitar for Christmas. We've been messing around with it since then, and recently my parents actually found a teacher for my brother, but he has yet to learn something I don't already know how to play from all my internet scouring.
I've already told them that I'll buy it with my own money and my brother is going to let me keep it and play it in his room (as long as he gets to play it) since I don't want my 8 year old sister messing around with it. Whenever I try to get a straight answer out of them, they always say : "Ask your Mom", or "ask your Dad".

If you are going to be purchasing the guitar with your own money, I do not understand why you would need their permission to buy it. You are obviously involved with music, and I'm sure they can see that. However, if they don't have to pay for it, I really can't see what the problem would be.
