How would you explain my infant son's choice of music...?!
Question:
How would you explain my infant son's choice of music...?
I am trying to find a common thread in my ten month old infant's somewhat intriguing choice of music videos. He watches ONLY the following videos intently- Rihanna ('Umbrella'), Nelly Furtado ('Give it to me'), Avril Lavigne ('Girlfriend'), Beyonce ('Beautiful Liar'), Gwen Stefani ('Sweet Escape'), Akon ('Don't matter'), Ne-Yo ('Because of you'), Mika ('Love Today'), Mutya Buena ('Real Girl'), Gym Class Heroes ('Cupid's chokehold). He TOTALLY IGNORES all the rest including the older chart toppers.
Answers:
I'd say it is a matter of exposure; unless it is true that males have a gene activated at birth for using the remote control. LOL! My taste in music has given me zero exposure to these videos. So I speculate that there is just something about the beat or pitch that is grabbing your son's attention.
Not to be a kill joy or anything, but have you heard the latest research that says children under 3 really shouldn't watch television? Claims are that the stimulation is counterproductive to infants developing focus and learning skills that are linked to attention span.
