What is up with the mainstream music these days?!

What is up with the mainstream music these days?

A lot of it is so depressingly simple and predictable. Coming from musician. I think there are still great upcoming artists out there but they are just 20 times harder to discover. The media machine promotes and generates alot of bland material. Singers who really shouldnt touch the mic, and bands that sound no different from each other, composition-wise. Sometimes a unique and original artist(s) comes by, but are only embraced by a few. We are overwhelmed with the Lil' "this and that". Thousands of those. i just dont know anymore. Where is our music headed in the next decade? Can it be reshaped as those from the decades past? Lend me your thoughts.......

I agree pop has taken over.. and not very good pop at that. With the development of technology, even Paris Hilton or any young bimbo can release a hit song. It doesn´t matter how well the artist sings, but rather the image and the marketing power they have. Put a song on heavy rotation and after a while it´s just accepted... no matter if it´s junk. I´m hoping it´s a just a phase... there´s still good artists, but with the big business music is now, we just have to put up with the stuff that comes out of the crap-music assembly line.
