Recording Guitars with socks?
So, i was watching this opeth dvd and noticed that on the guitarist's guitar neck was a sock or sum type of cloth wrapped around the top around the first fret. Is this ment for better quality in recording? If so, im really interested. Im always recording and was just wanting to know if this little trick improves anything! thanks!

Not sure about that one, but I have seen another peculiar guitarist-sock thing (and I'm not talking about Red Hot Chili Peppers' encore uniform!) ............ at an acoustic guitar ensemble concert recently, I saw one of the performers, handling a white gym sock constantly in both hands up until a few seconds before his performance began. We guessed that it was to keep his hands dry?
