Guitar tuning in the scale of....?!

Question:

Guitar tuning in the scale of....?

what tuning is the guitar when the scale is F major-Bb?
If you know Avenged Sevenfold: which guitar tuning do they use the most?

Answers:

First off, the guitar doesn't care what scale a piece of music is written in, it can play any any key from any tuning. The guitarist should be able to use different chords and play different fret positions, or use a capo to shift the key.

Good tab would specify what tuning is used to play that tab. If no tuning is specified it should be standard tuning. I searched for Avenge Sevenfold tab (what tabs could be found, legal issues?/ whatever). What I could find, did not specify, but by the looks of their tab(interpretation), it would either be Drop D or Drop C. You can tell by the simplified barre's using the three lowest strings. In my opinion the Drop tunings are just dumbing down the guitar to make it easier to play, the only real advantage especially in Drop C is to get some lower tones, but..whatever makes people happy. I don't know why the world needs to make "power" chords even easier, people could just learn to make full barre chords and be done with it.

Start with Drop D and see if that sounds right. If that doesnt work tune it down to Drop C. If you don't already know about those tunings just look it up on wikipedia.org.

Rock on!
