Congratulations on wanting to start playing the guitar. A lot of people try it and some people fall in love with it.

Electric guitar is easier to play than an acoustic. That is because it takes more finger strength and dexterity to play an acoustic guitar than it does an electric guitar. But I think it's better and a little bit more financially easier to start on an acoustic. If you can rock on an acoustic, then you will have no problem playin on an electric. But if you rock on an electric, you will have a small learning gap to rock on the acoustic. Majority of things played on electric are power / bar chords and solos. The power chords are really easy to play. But with an acoustic you have to learn to play open chords which requires a few different finger formations. And the bar chords are much harder to play on an acoustic.

If you want to play the acoustic, then I strongly suggest learning the acoustic first. I learned how to play acoustic first and now I can play on both comfortably. Also with an acoustic you don't have to get an amp and cables to start out. You can get a good beginner acoustic guitar for around $300-$400. If you spend any less than that, the quality is not worth it. Also spend an extra $50 for someone at a guitar shop to lower the action on the guitar. I can't stress this enough, by lowering the action on the guitar, you lower the strings to the fret board, so you don't have to push down as hard. This makes things so much easier for a beginner. Good luck.
