What's the easy way to learn how to play the guitar?

I have had a guitar for a couple of years now, and i tried to learn with some guitar lesson videos but they just dont seem to work. what are some other good methods?

I think the easiest way to learn the guitar is with a decent teacher. While you might think you get the same information from a video, the video can't check on how you are doing things and correct bad habits that you may develop.

A good teacher will also talk to you about the type of guitar music you are interested in playing and will provide instruction and music to help you with that. There's not much point to learning how to play flamenco guitar if what you want to do is strum a song and sing it at a campout, if you get what I mean.

And there is one more reason that having a lesson with a teacher is a good idea: it gives you a reason to practice. You won't want to show up and pay for the instruction if you are unprepared for it. Practice is when the real learning takes place--your lesson just points you in the direction of what to practice and then lets you check how you are doing it with a more skilled player.
