Why do singers wear earpieces?
Answers:
When they are onstage live it is usually for two reasons. 1.) so they can hear the music they are supposed to sing without being overpowered by the other instruments and sounds which can cause micues and mistakes, and 2.) so they can get stage cues and directions from the stage crew and sound engineer. When they are in the recording studio the sound engineer/technician pipes the music they are recording without vocals into the earpiece, so the singer can sing along accurately in "real time" to the music track they are recording.
