Why do people want something for nothing?!

Question:

Why do people want something for nothing?

I'd like to know why people want things for nothing, especially things entertaining. When nothing is paid, there is no money to pay people to make more good things. Everything costs money especially people who can significantly outperform many others, a musicians time, an actors time, your time? Would these cheapskate something-for-nothing people entertain me for nothing like they are my servants?! Or at least tell me why something for nothing is a good thing.

Answers:

People these days are too stressed or preoccupied about something else instead. They rarely realize talent anymore. I think it's rather very disappointing that someone can look at a piece of art--may be anything in particular--and think about their problems other than what the meaning of the piece represents. I'm a writer and I guess I have opinions on everything, though I always look at the positive and negative sides of things. I get very depressed when someone looks at something and says, "Well, that's stupid." I don't think they realize how many things that something may represent to a person. With paintings many people look at it and tilt their head in a manner that says they don't get it. With books people don't even glance at it and say they hate it. With music, they listen to it, hoping it will bring some kind of memory back, barely thinking about the music itself. People do give music a lot of credit these days, but when it comes to non-verbal songs, they turn their back on it, as if they are too lazy to listen to the tune. The verbal songs say what the music is about when non-verbals, you have to look for the meaning. Then there's the actors that don't get recognized the way they should. They usually look at their beauty or at a magazine, talking about them as if they don't have real lives. There's plenty of people out there who don't recognize what each others talents are so the world gets sadder and colder everyday, because people do want to get recognized. People don't even know how to compliment anymore since no one knows if it's true or not. The only time people notice something is because they want something in return, which I think it's selfish and it leads to your question about wanting something for nothing. It's funny how people think that just wanting something is fair enough. Though, people should just start to do things for their own well being. It's pointless wanting someone to love your work. It would be wonderful if it could be like that, wouldn't it? People actually getting why you do what you do and getting the message you're trying to deliver. That would be wondeful.

Sorry, I think I just made you more confused, haven't I?
