I want to get my brother a guitar for his birthday but i dont know anything about them lol help please?

ok what is and acoustic guitar and what is electric and what is bass? what would i need extra with the guitar that im buiyng?
which music is for which guitar (eg bass for maybe a specific band) please help

i also would like to know sau i got an electric guitar...what would i want to get with it? i wouldnt want to get riped off.. i mean like all the stuff like amp...

also what would i need to get with a bass guitar?

i don't know how much you're planning on spending and i don't know a whole lot about guitars.... i would say do a web search for some of these questions that you have and read up on them. the reason i am answering is to turn you on to a guy who makes really beautiful guitars in tailand. if you go on ebay and do a search of antonio tsai guitars or some variation of that, you will find some really beautiful pieces. some can be expensive and the shipping is quite a bit.... at the same time, you will get a lot for your dollar. my husband purchased one (an electric bass) for $350, shipping was about the same. however, when he took it into the local music shop to have it tuned, the shopkeeper told him that he could probably turn around and sell it for $2000 or so.
