Sold the cause for the Queen?
In the MCR song, Disenchanted, Gerard sings "Well I was there on the day thy sold the cause for the queen..." what the heck does this mean? whats a cause for a queen? and wat queen?
Also, in something I found online, it said "Sir James Cockburn having espoused the cause of Queen Mary"
so a cause must mean/be something?

The Queen is referring to the Queen of England, probably.
It's a cliche in old English literature. To sacrifice something for the honor of your Queen and Country.
