Building my fake book?!
Question:
Building my fake book?
Hi, I just decided to pursue singing seriously but it's been awhile since I've updated my music references. Here's a few facts:
-female, 21 yrs old, mezzo-soprano, 3 octaves range, basic formal training
-i've a good voice but don't do improvisations very well and have not yet found my musical character
-I like rock and alternative best (my fav artists include tori amos, katie noonan, evanescence, flyleaf, sick puppies, jimmy eat world, the butterfly effect) but i don't dress or act like a rocker. i like jazz as well and would have less trouble building a jazz imagery but i don't love it half as much as rock.
Music can be overwhelming and it's tricky finding songs you're really comfortable with. Considering the facts, what should I listen to and what songs should I consider adding to my fake book/repertoire? (beg, int, & adv levels) Thanks so much!
PS I live in Indonesia so pls don't recommend me American radio stations (or of wherever u live unless u live in Indonesia)
