Hey, I just switched to horn a few days ago. I was a trumpet player. I heard that the positioning of your mough to the mouthpiece is very different from horn to trumpet. So, HOW DO YOU POSITION IT ON HORN?
Answers:
The correct positioning of the mouth for French Horn is 2/3 upper lips and 1/3 lower lips. This is a position for optimal efficiency at two octave range. Note that this is reversed for a trumpet position.
Well, my suggestion is to learn the former case; but if you find it extremely difficult to get it to buzz, try the latter. As you learn how to adjust your ambochure, it will become easier to adjust between those two standard mouth positions.
