One Hit Wonders! Why are there so many one hit wonder groups throughout musical !

Question:

One Hit Wonders! Why are there so many one hit wonder groups throughout musical history?

I mean....if they could do it once...why couldnt they do it again?

I wonder whats worse....having just one hit and then failing to make it big after assuming you had it made ...or being known as a one hit wonder forever after that?

Answers:

I would say it has to a lot with record companies being so money hungry and always looking for the "next new thing" to shove down our throats.

Think about this: record companies and factions like MTV dictate popular music trends, and most popular music SUCKS...and sucks bad.

One radio station plays all the stuff from the "sex idol female, who plays no instrument, who really can't sing and is a marketing tool with a demographic of boys/girls 14-19"

The next radio station plays what is supposed to be the "cutting edge ROCK" but really all sounds EXACTLY THE SAME and is categorized as "hard guitar, whiny/groaning/growling vocalist, with a demographic of those thinking they are anti-conformists/hard partiers from 16-36".

The last station has all the hip-hop that sounds the same (unlike the old school days of the genre) and the R&B male/female artists that all sound the same and are NOTHING like old R&B.

AND...because record labels know that half of the population CAN'T think for themselves, they basically dictate to the ignorant masses as to "what is cool".

Why else would "Come On Eileen" EVER have been a best selling single? Think about it. Most of the music worth a sh*t or worth listening to is rarely found on the radio or on TV...
