GATHERING OF THE JUGGALOS...should I allow my 17yr son to attend the gathering this year in Cave-In-Rock, Ill?
My son wants to go sooooo bad...with a couple other friends (only one of them is 18). We live in Chicago so it's a good 5-6 hour drive and they'd be camping in a tent along with other "juggalos" for 3 days?!?! Has anyone out there ever been to a "gathering?" What's it like? Is it safe? Did anything crazy or dangerous happen? How can I find out? Holla!

Hell no! I'm 15 just about 16 so I can somewhat relate. Have you heard about the theories that these type of people and their music breed violence? Their are several noted cases of Juggalo's committing horrific acts of violence (they are documented on Wikipedia and other sites). Have you heard this music? It's generally violent, documenting, among other things, ax murdering. Now, if he was going away for a day, that would be one thing. But a far off trip overnight. While he may be going with people his age their are going to be lots of strange characters around their. Drugs will most certainly be present, as well as suggestions of sex (unprotected). This is not an event aimed at kids, these events target people who are fans of Parental Advisory music. I'd say look it up a little more for details but it definitively I'd say no.
