How can America afford to give out millions of dollars on game shows?

when our whole country is in debt? Couldn't they use that for something more important?

I know its not the government, americans are giving away money to other americans that answer random stupid questions, why not do something else with it since they have so much of it to be giving it away

Since when is "America" giving out money on game shows. It is usually private companies that are running the game shows.
