How old is my guitar?!
Question:
How old is my guitar?
I have Washburn A-5V. I just assume it's late 70's, early 80's. But i have no clue what years this model was made. Also, there's no date on the guitar. I've added new hardware to it, and changed the paint, which was a dull brownish metallic color. The original color is still on the headstock, with the Washburn logo, which looks like some 70's font. Any clues to the year?
Answers:
The A5V was built between 1983 and 1985 and was available in black, red, or white.
Around 1984, there was a BBR model that had a black finish, black hardware, and red binding/inlays/accents.
According to the Blue Book of Electric Guitars, it is valued between $275 in mint condition (unplayed with all tags and papers) down to $110 in average condition.
Since you repainted it and replaced hardware, it's value is close to.... zero. If you dig how it plays and looks that is all that counts.
