Bass question: What is the difference between popping, slapping, and tapping?

I am just starting bass guitar and I keep seeing these words used to describe how to play a note on my tabs. What is the difference between them and how do you do them?

I've played a 6 string for many years, and I know what tapping is, but what are popping and slapping?

Answers:

Popping is when you "snap" one of the upper strings with your fingers of R hand by pullig them up and letting them snap back against the frets.

Slapping is when you make a similar sound, but by whacking the lower strings with your thumb.

Taken together, this type of playing is called "slap style", "slap bass" etc.
