Answers:

This trick was revealed by Criss Angel on one of his A&E aired shows. There was no specific name for the trick. Tricks like this are referred to as sleight of hand.

Of course, misdirection is key. You will need a heavy (not see-through) napkin or similar cloth, a quarter or coin, and the salt shaker or similar item.

You begin by stating the trick is about the quarter disappearing - misdirection at it's finest. You place the shaker on the coin, and the napkin over the shaker fully covering it. You say magic words and direct the crowd to look how the quarter has disappeared. You remove the shaker wrapped in napkin to reveal the trick "failed". As the crowd looks at the coin, you move the shaker and napkin over your lap, releasing the shaker to your lap, but maintaining the shape of the napkin.

You try again, and people think that the shaker is under the napkin. But with your other hand, you have taken the shaker under the table. A quick re-direct to the crowd - "Well if that won't work, then we can just push the shaker through the table."

Make it look good. Like you are putting all your mental energy into it, and be sure to smack the napkin hard and quick. Voila! It's through the table.
